Quarterly Unemployment Snapshot
The unemployment rate is a measure of those people who reside in a county, are jobless, and are available to take a job and have actively sought work in the past four weeks. Unemployment can vary noticeably with the seasons, so seasonally-adjusting removes this variability and exposes the underlying unemployment trend. While the unemployment rate is not calculated upon unemployment insurance claims, claims can be a leading indicator of the future direction of the unemployment rate.
