Housing Choice Voucher - individuals locate apartments; rent is subsidized. Currently the wait is approximately 12 to 24 months. The Housing Choice Voucher portable, and can be used with any Housing Authority in the United States that has a voucher program, which encourages low-income families and individuals to move into areas of greater opportunity and to live outside areas of poverty.

Public Housing - Housing Authority owns and manages apartments for families, elderly, and disabled. Rent is 30% of tenant's income. Family self-sufficiency program - escrow account to earn money toward the purchase of a home. Transitional housing for veterans.

Section 8 rent subsidy - individuals locate their own apartment and their rent is subsidized. The Section 8 Voucher Program offers an applicant the opportunity to find housing of their choice anywhere in the Salt Lake Valley. There is always a waiting list for the Section 8 Program, varying from 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 years.

Public Housing - Housing Authority owns and manages apartments rented for 30% of income.

There is always a waiting list for public housing units, varying from time-to-time. The current approximate waiting period for a one bedroom senior unit is 6-9 months. All other units have a waiting period of 12-24 months or longer.

Family Self Sufficiency Program - provides escrow account to earn money toward the purchase of a home (available to people currently in housing).

Repair grants for furnace repair, hot water heater repairs, plumbing, and electrical emergencies.

Grants for low-income families that provide up to $5,000 toward purchase of home.

Community Action Program (CAP)
